We all deal with our emotions differently. What works for one person may not work for the other. But then, how would you know if you do not try? We all have that one ex that we still hang on to. Consciously or unconsciously, we think about them and this can be really annoying. We see them in the lecture hall, we see them at the library and other places on campus and you feel your chest tighten because you know you cannot have them back.
Now, before reading the tips below, *delete their pictures on whichever gadget you have* but if you have done this already, then you are ready for the tips below.
Tip 1: *ENGAGE YOURSELF IN SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE.*
Get busy with that passion of yours that you love, study more, write out your goals in life and begin to work towards achieving them. The satisfaction you would derive from this activity would make you happy and help you move on.
Tip 2: *DON’T PAY THEM ANY ATTENTION.*
If you see them in school, look away and ignore because they aren’t worth your time. If they greet you, greet back because that is the mature thing to do.
Tip 3: *BE WITH GOOD COMPANY AND MAKE NEW FRIENDS.*
Trust me, with good company and new friends, you won’t even remember the name of your ex. Have fun, cherish your friends and meet new people. You could meet your soul mate. Just be happy with yourself and have fun.
Tip 4: *GET BUSY WITH YOUR STUDIES.*
Stop thinking about your ex and think about your books and your future. There are better things in life than your ex. Think about where you want to be after college. Think about what you want to achieve and work towards it. Trust me, becoming great in life, is the best payback for your ex.
Tip 5: *STOP STALKING!*
This can be really difficult because once you’re online, you’d be tempted to know what they are doing. Now here is the thing, STOP! This would only make you feel miserable, besides, you have better things to do with your time. Rather than stalking your ex, stalk motivational and inspirational icons. Watch motivational videos and movies. Basically, drown yourself in activities online that would be of value to you and your future.
Tip 6: *BLOCK/DELETE.*
Still finding it hard to pick yourself up after reading their status updates? Go to the icon that says ‘unfollow’ or ‘block user’ it’s that simple, do not think twice. Their statues updates are not healthy for your recovery because they can trigger unwanted memories or thoughts and you know what happens after that…. Pain, sadness and anger. What good are these emotions when you can be studying and reading statues updates that would add value to your life?
Tip 7: *THEY DON’T DESERVE YOU.*
Repeat after me,“He/she doesn’t deserve me” if they did deserve you, then they would not be an ex. Every relationship go throw obstacles, what makes a beautiful relationship is how you scale through these obstacles together, if he/she cannot stand through these obstacles, then they aren’t worth it.
Tip 8: *SELF LOVE.*
Learn to appreciate and love yourself, do whatever makes you happy because being single is not as bad as it seems.
