Waking up to a new day is really exciting knowing that there are tons of opportunities for you out there. The first hour when you wake up is one of the most critical times. You can either set yourself up for a day of success or for failure. Start each day with a grateful heart. If you want to stay on top of your game, it’s important to make sure your day starts right.
Now, what are those things successful people do?
1. They Pray/Meditate
Stress has a way of taking its toll on us thereby making it hard to focus. If you’ve been under overwhelming stress without a break, all you want to do after a while is get away from it all so you can recharge. Prayer and meditation helps you refocus and reconnect with your mind and body.
2. They Exercise
There’s nothing like a workout first thing in the morning to get your blood pumping and prepare your mind for the day. If you want to get a boost of energy that will last longer than your morning cup of coffee, put on your workout gear and squeeze in a quick workout. Research shows that exercise sharpens your focus and helps you to make better decisions. Former US President Barack Obama said that he wakes up early to workout for 45 minutes, six days a week.
3. They Set Aside Time For Visualization
One key to attaining success is to visualize yourself with what you want. Athletes visualize winning a sporting event, and public speakers imagine themselves giving a successful talk. Visualization involves your mind. ‘’Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve’’- Napoleon Hill.
The most accomplished people know if you can’t see the end goal, it’s unlikely you’ll achieve what you’ve set out to do. One way you can reach your desired goal is to create a vision board. Put it next to your bed to see it when you wake up or hang it on your office wall to remind yourself of your goal before starting the day’s work. Media personality Oprah Winfrey said she relies on a vision board to help her achieve her dreams.
4. They Delay Checking Emails or Messages
You might think if you check just one email or an unread message first thing in the morning, it should be fine. However, one email usually turns into five and who can check email without eventually responding to one or to of them? Before you know it, you’re spending half the morning responding to messages and getting stressed out before your day has barely begun. That’s not the best way to start your day.
5. They Drink Water
Drinking water in the morning helps you feel more alert, rehydrates your body, and kick-starts your metabolism.
Bottom line: For you to become successful, you need to be consistent in doing these things. Consistency pays. I believe by doing these you’re paving the way for success.
See you at the top!
