Ever seen a graduate struggling to get a job or money to spend on essentials? It is not an experience anyone wishes for.
The actions you take and even those you refuse to take while in school will eventually add up to help you become a successful graduate or a struggling one.
There are certain things you can start doing as a student that will contribute to making your entry into the labor market a sweet experience.
If you’ll hate to finish school and struggle for years before landing a job, make these smart moves as soon as possible.
1. Acquire a Skill
Acquire an actual skill. It could be tailoring, baking, hair styling, shoe making, driving or any activity that can be referred to as hand work.
When you graduate, the skill you acquire will keep you preoccupied before getting that dream job at NNPC or Shell, while you earn money.
2. Start and run a business
Every student should run a business. Don’t complain about time or how your course of study can be demanding. If you know the value derivable from running a business, you will definitely make out time.
It could be a part-time business or something you run periodically; say during weekends or during semester breaks.
Starting and running a business on campus no matter how small will give you an edge when you get into the labor market either in your search for a job or as someone who wants to be an entrepreneur.
Finally, what other thing do you think students can do while in school that can be of help as they match into in the labor market? Share your thoughts please.
